Lifelong learning and reading habits are developed at a young age. At Cedar Springs Public Library, we are dedicated to ensuring our young Cedar Readers have plenty of opportunities to explore and learn.

SEASONAL PROGRAMMING

Red Flannel Read-to-Ride: Readers in PreK through 12th grade can earn a free Carnival ride ticket by reading. For more information, visit our Red Flannel Read-to-Ride page!

Trading Card Event: Join us for a night of card trading (sports cards, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and more) on Wednesday, September 16 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Open to kids of all ages. No RSVP required.

Tape Town Play Day: Drive Matchbox cars through a pretend town built right in the library on Wednesday, October 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Community Room. With masking tape roads and familiar stops like the post office, DMV, and car wash, this hands-on play encourages imagination, fine motor skills, and creative storytelling. This event is open-house style and designed for toddlers and preschoolers. No RSVP required.

Spooktacular Magic Show: Join us on Thursday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room for a funny-not-scary Halloween magic show with thrilling illusions, ghostly surprises, and lots of humor and mystery. For all ages. Featuring Joel Tacey, Michigan's Family Funnyman! No RSVP required.

Holiday Craft Night for Kids: Have fun making a variety of holiday-themed crafts on Friday, November 20 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. All materials provided. This event is open-house style. No RSVP required.

 

EVERGREEN PROGRAMMING

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - Any child that hasn’t started Kindergarten can sign up. This includes newborns, infants and/or toddlers. The goal is simple…to read 1,000 books before your little one starts Kindergarten – and yes, you can repeat books! After reading 1,000 books, your kiddo will receive an official book bag containing a special book and stuffed animal character. Contact us for more information.

 Reader of the Month - We randomly choose someone 17 years old or younger who is signed up and actively involved in one of our programs, typically either our Summer Reading Program or from our Fall/Winter/Spring Reading BINGOs. Stay active and involved with our programs/library and your child just might be our next Reader of the Month!
